About

On building

I’m Phani Puttabakula — founder of BlueFunda, a company building AI-driven workflow automation and operational infrastructure for complex SAP and ERP ecosystems.

I started BlueFunda because I saw a gap: enterprise software had grown complex and fragmented, while the tools to manage change, releases, and operations inside these systems remained manual, opaque, and slow. We’re building the infrastructure layer that makes these systems intelligent.

BlueFunda is evolving from a consulting practice into a product-led infrastructure company. Our first major product, BlueRequests, rethinks how enterprise requests, approvals, and change workflows are managed — replacing fragmented processes with structured, AI-augmented decision flows.

Background

My career has moved through software engineering, engineering leadership, and now company building — always at the intersection of technical depth and operational complexity.

I’ve spent years working inside SAP ecosystems, enterprise workflow automation, and release management. Not just the technology, but the organizational dynamics that determine whether software actually gets adopted and trusted over time.

I grew up in India, moved to the United States, and now live in Los Angeles. The journey shaped how I think about building: patience over urgency, systems over hacks, endurance over short-term speed.

How I think about enterprise software

Enterprise software is infrastructure. The best infrastructure is invisible — it works reliably, scales without friction, and lets the people using it focus on what actually matters. Most enterprise software fails this standard: it becomes the obstacle rather than the enabler.

AI changes this equation in a specific way: not as a feature layer, but as an architectural shift. Agent systems that can reason about workflows, surface anomalies, and reduce the cognitive load of operating complex systems. That’s where BlueFunda is heading.

I’m building for the long run — not for a quick exit, but for a category of software that earns trust over years.

Beyond work

I listen to Hindustani classical music when I need to think clearly. I believe philosophy is more useful to building than most people admit. I care about the long game, in work and in life.
